INTRODUCTION

1. Hi, everyone.
T: Good morning, class.  How are you today?  How’s the weather outside?

2. Listen and do.
T: Listen carefully and do as I say.  Clap your hands once.  Clap your hands twice.

3. Let’s review.
T: (showing the picture of a hungry woman) What do you say when you really want to eat something?  (if there’s no answer,) Here’s a hint – I am…
Ss: I’m hungry!
T: Very good.
T: (showing the picture of dirty man) How is he?  Yes, he’s dirty.   What do you want to say to him?
Ss: Wash your hands, please.
T: Great.

4. Let’s begin.
T: We’re going to learn how to ask your friends or someone to do something politely.  Let’s begin.

TODAY’S OBJECTIVES:

다양한 상황에서 공손하게 명령하는 표현을 듣고 이해하며 신체와 관련된 명령을 자연스럽게 할 수 있다.

Note: T and Ss greet each other in a joyful atmosphere.  Call Ss’ attention naturally.  Reminds Ss of the key expressions of previous lessons.  Be focused.

Materials: laminated pieces of today’s agenda.

DEVELOPMENT

[LOOK AND SPEAK]

1. Let’s listen to Dialog One.
T: (play CD-ROM without sound for the first time) Can you guess what this story’s about? (play with sound for the second time and then asks several concept check questions to Ss / CCQs – 5W1H)

2. Let’s listen to Dialog Two.
T: (divide Ss into two parts) Group one, two and three: you’re Minsu. Group four, five, six, eight: you’re Minsu’s mother. (switch the roles and repeat)
T: All the girls, raise your hands. (pointing to Minsu’s mother) You’re Minsu’s mom now.  Boys, raise your hands.  (pointing to Minsu) You’re Minsu.  Let’s practice one more time.

3. Let’s look and speak: “Bomb game”
T: Listen carefully.  Here’s the rule. (explain the rules) I’ll choose one team first. (draw numbers from a jar) Team #[ ], choose one question. (show the slides of ppt file on imperative sentences) Look at the pictures.   What can you say? (repeat this procedure for a couple of time for each team)

Note: Increase the student-talk-time. Try to involve students as much as possible. Use an extra ppt file so as not to bore students. Co-operation is the key here in this activity.

Materials: bomb game ppt files, a jar, 6 pieces of paper which team numbers written on it, CD-ROM.

[LET’S SING]

1. Listen to the song.
T: You’re going to listen to a song. Correct the order of picture cards I give to you. (play the song for the first time) Glue them to your note. What was the song about? Who are they? Etc.

2. Let’s sing together.
T: (distribute Finger dance sheets to Ss) What can you see? Make your finger like this(make index, middle fingers stand on the desk just like human legs). Have you ever played DDR game? It’s just like that game but you play with your two fingers. (Ss finger dance on the desk while they’re listening to the song) Let’s sing for the last time.

Note: Ss don’t repeat the song at first. Ss get what the song is about. Finger dance joyfully. Ss look at the pictures and dance with their fingers.

Materials: 30 copies of finger ddr sheets(one for each).

[LET’S PLAY(3)]

TARGET PHRASES:

Look at your hands.
Wash your hands.
Stand up. Sit down.
Open your eyes/mouth.
Close your eyes/mouth.

1. It’s time for a game: “Speed game”
T: (give a clear instruction) It’s time for a game called speed game. Groups, stand in line. I’ll show one person from each group a picture.

S/he has to explain with body expressions like this(show an example). The next person in line should guess what the expression is. Everyone in the group takes turn. You’ll get 10 points for each question. If you get all the answers in one minute, you’ll get a bonus point.

2. Let’s play.
T: Let’s start! (show a picture card to S1)
S1: (mimes)
S2, S3, S4, S5: (answer) Wash your hands!
… (Ss take turns to mime)

Note: Manipulate the game slightly to prevent Ss from overheated rivalry.  Let Ss not to shout out the answer.  Do not skip anyone in the procedure.

Materials: Big(A4) yellow envelope(6), picture card sets(6), chairs(4), stopwatch.

CLOSING

1. Let’s review today’s lesson.
T: (show another ppt file for the review) What can you say to those people(a girl with dirty hands, a boy with eyes closed, etc.).
Ss: Wash your hands, please!  Open your eyes, please!

2. This is your homework.
(T assigns a simple homework)

3. Goodbye, class.
T: Close your books. You did very well today.  Goodbye, everyone.
